God Hates Twisted Worship (Ex. 32:1-35)

Exodus 32 is a tragic chapter of the Bible. Right after God had given his instructions about how to worship him properly, the people of Israel fall into terrible idolatry, building a golden calf and twisting the true worship of God into something perverse and deadly. The truth is, the idolatry of the Israelites demonstrates a profoundly human tendency that all of us must deal with. Their example serves as a warning to us of how easily we can fall into false worship, and how deeply God disapproves of such a thing.
