As we begin our series on the book of Exodus, one of the most important questions we need to answer is: “What is the book about?” On the surface, it might seem like an inspiring tale of a nation that went from slavery to freedom, overcoming countless obstacles along the way. But if we focus upon the people of Israel, we miss the point. Exodus isn’t about their story first and foremost. It’s about the God who promised to bless them and give them land, and who acted with power and might when those promises came under attack. This sets the foundation for how we understand the entire book.
